At a time when access to lithium is deemed as an imperative, growing prospection endeavours and
imminent acts of extraction are imposed upon livelihoods around the world. In
the context of an accelerating unrest, this project investigates the ways in which a local resistance act
can be more than a struggle for familiar territories. And in doing so, it explores how trajectories of contestations can
transfigure the extractivist machine yet-to-come.
Considering the episodes of prospection and
extraction in the North of the Portugal, Relational Infrastructures builds upon the strategies of local resistance, in dialogue with the tactics that shape
the co-existence and solidarity across nodes of the global networks to imagine what relational infrastructures can instantiate other forms of collective emancipation.
